Every Word Diane Spoke

A photograph? Are you giving like, some dollars for this because, we are, emm, we are, like, homeless and everything. Yeah, well if you want to, I have no problem with you taking my photograph. I’ve done that before, I’ve done that. Are you from Pratt? Well that’s good, that’s good. What year are you in? What year are you in? You from Scatlin? You from Scatlin? Oh well, that’s great, that’s great. Oh, oh you gotta an accent, you have an accent. Yeah, yeah, well, ok. Well me, I, I’ve been out here for a long time so, emm, well, you know, I’ve been out here for a long time. I come from a family of nine children and, emm, my mother is no longer here and my father died, you know, because of alcoholism but, you know, I’m still around, you know, but emm, yeah, yeah, I’ve been around a long time. This is basically my area. Ok, so you’ve just literally come over here? Really? Really? So where you gonna go and you’re from where? Aww ok. Great, that’s great. So you’re basically here for your, like, educational… what are you majoring in? Aww ok, great. That’s good, that’s good. God bless you. Here, I admire that, I admire that… I admire that. You know, he was just, like, saying… his research, he’s from college. He wants to see what it’s like out here. You know, so far he’s just taking a picture… we can have that, we can have that. How’s it over there in Scatlin? How’s it over there in Scatlin? You know I’ve never been to Scatlin, you know. but what is it like out there, you know, for you? Oh really? More like the country, or? Oh really? Yeah, well, it’s ok, yeah, well, you have my permission. How do you want to take this picture? You don’t have to take your picture… it’s ok, it’s alright. It’s ok. You’re watching me, ok alright. That’s great, I admire what your doing. They make movies here and everything. There’s a whole hysteria that surrounds, you know… I usually ask for a dollar or something. You know art is a good thing you know. I think this shit should be worldwide. Everybody has a gift… like myself. Well you think you could give him a dollar or something? You know… he’s a very nice person. Ok, its alright, ok, it’s alright. Well it was nice to meet you, very nice to meet you. ‘D’, they call me ‘D’. I’m Diane but they call me ‘D’. Yeah, I’ve been round here for like years, and em, I was born and raised around here and I remember, like, when this neighbourhood was, like, a lot of Italians. Now it’s, like, up and coming it’s, like, a new type of era now. I’m fifty-four, but I was basically, like, out here when I was, like, five or six years old. Yeah, yeah. I’ve seen, like, you know… from that time on my mother was living, my father was living, but we’ve always made it work up here. It was always an area. So it’s, like, I think things are gradually, like, changing, like, I see a good change and I agree with it, like, you know. I’m not a prejudice person. People should have their freedom to, like, to do that and I, I agree with that, you know. I agree with whatever you want to be or however you want to succeed with your life. There’s no boundaries over here, there’s no boundaries. You know, you should feel free to, you know, express yourself. Expression is a good thing, I think that’s a very good thing, you know. And I love that, I love that. Because I have my, my talents, I’m good with sowing, decorating… writing and em reading and all sorts of things, you know, if I have ever once one day I think I will probably write a book. Maybe not now, I’m fifty-four, right, but maybe when I turn into almost into my sixties or something I can gather my thoughts and put it down on paper. Gradually I can do that. I don’t even know how to use a computer or anything like that but I can learn. I dropped out in high school when I was like very young. I think maybe nineteen or eighteen. I didn’t finish school. Yeah, I was born here. Yeah, I was born here. I was born right down the block down there, in the hospital. Yeah well, he’s ok, he’s ok. Oh we don’t want to here that, we don’t want to hear that. We don’t want to frighten him. Oh you have, you have? Oh well you know what time to go home and what time to be out. Yeah well, you’re not bothering anyone so why should anyone bother you. Oh, you’re young, you’re very young. Wow, I’m like twice your age. No, no, I’m like one time your age. I’m fifty-four. It’s ok, it’s alright, and what is your name? Ok, ok, well mines is D. I’m glad I’ve met you and I hope you continue your journey and everything will be so pleasant for you when your over here. You know, you know, because this is not a bad neighbourhood. There is a lot of good people out here. And don’t get frightened of this or that. I know these people and I’ve been through that too. But you like, like, I’ve learned out here, you know, life, life, life is just strange. Life is strange. Life is strange. Ok, nice to see you and I hope to see you again and we can talk and, emm, and we can, like, gather something together. If you ever need any type of information out here I would be glad to give it to you. Ok, ok, be careful alright?
