Werner Herzog Into the Abyss Part One

In this interesting interview, Werzog explains that in his film, 'Into the Abyss'  he does NOT interview the participants in it, and that he is NOT a journalist and that they are conversations, what he likes to call a 'discourse' - an uncatalogued and unplanned discussion. This is imperative to my way of working also, in the case of Dave and Diane. Like Werzog, I want to get to the heart of the human condition. I do not ask direct questions because the answers to my curiosity cannot be explained in a literal sense by the subject, they are relevant to my outlook on existence, and that is one of awe.
